Collective Demakersvan, composed of twins Jeroen and Joep Verhoeven along with Judith de Graauw, graduated from Design Academy Eindhoven in 2005. The meaning of their name, “the makers of”, along with projects like the Cinderella Table (2005) illustrate their dedication to reinterpreting traditional techniques to create timeless designs through modern technology. After the success of their Lace Fence project (2005), a graduation project by Joep Verhoeven, they established a factory in India that they spent two years setting up. Now fully operational, the factory produces the lace fence for master plan and architectural applications as well as continuing production for others on a contract basis when not needed. This allows them to continue their experimentation with materials in Rotterdam without being committed to the full time management of production.
