Research: Gerrit Rietveld

Gerrit Rietvelt, a grandfather of modern design, worked in scales ranging from furniture to buildings. He believed architecture and design “in the future should incorporate the capabilities of the machine but always under the creative supervision of the artist.” His designs, from the Red and Blue Chair to the Schroder House, remain icon symbols of the de Stijl movement.
