By looking at a city as a three dimensional space, architecture firm MVRDV aims to use the available land by mixing functions while creating denser spaces. Research driven, MVRDR are known for their innovative concepts and forms, like that of WoZoCo and the Hanover Pavilion Expo. Winy Maas, one of the heads of MVRDR, is also responsible for establishing the Why Factory, an independent think-tank for Delft Technical University’s Faculty of Architecture. Mecanoo architects creates buildings and spaces inspired by the context of a site’s cultural, historic, economic, and social needs. Designs range in scales from master plans to landscape architecture to interior design. Their work includes St. Mary of the Angels Chapel in Rotterdam and Delft University Library.
