Research: Richard Hutten + Studio Job

Richard Hutten, designing for over 20 years, first became well-known for his work with Droog. His early work, following the motto ‘no sign of design’ is exemplified by objects like the ‘Cross’ table/bench and Thing Series. Hutten’s newer creations continue to exhibit a sense of playfulness and light-heartedness in his designs. Studio Job, formed by Job Smeets and Nynke Tynagel, create large, ornate pieces that blur the lines between art and design. They often use stylized icons to represent particular themes, like the ‘Industry’ pattern used for Viktor and Rolf’s 2010/2011 Glamour Factory show.
