Russell Taylor is a Senior Lecturer in Design in the School of Interactive Arts + Technology (SIAT) at Simon Fraser University, in Vancouver, Canada. He is the Director of the italiaDesign Field School, and of the dutchDesign Field School research programs since 2003. Professor Taylor also teaches courses at SIAT in Spatial Design and Interactive Objects + Space. His current teaching practice focuses on the opportunity domain created by the intersection of industrial design and interaction design affordances. His technology interests are in Arduino-based physical interactions, LED lighting design, and 3D printing. His approach to technology
– “people before technology”. His teaching focuses on the practice, processes and materials of making design, and the training of professional designers and design managers.
