Research: Vincent van Gogh

Although it was not until the age of 27 that Vincent van Gogh began his career in art he would spend the next ten years working fervently painting, drawing, and sketching over 2000 pieces of art. He is said to have given birth to Expressionism as his style of extreme emotion and intense colors grew more and more recognizable with age. Although he was highly influenced by 19th century French artists and sold only one painting during his lifetime interest in his painting resurged after World War II with Abstract Expressionism, particularly through the work of fellow Dutch artist Willem de Kooning.
